PoolJournal ("the app", "we") is an offline-first pool maintenance journal. This policy explains what data the app handles and your choices.
The following is stored locally in the app's private storage and is never transmitted to us:
You can delete this data at any time by removing entries in the app or by uninstalling the app (which erases all app data).
If you enable weather, the app requests approximate (coarse) location and sends your latitude/longitude to Open-Meteo to retrieve current weather for your area. This happens only in the foreground while you use the app. Your coordinates are used solely to fetch weather, are not stored by the app, and are not sold, shared, or used for advertising or tracking. Weather is optional — if you deny the location permission, the rest of the app works normally.
The app schedules local notifications on your device to remind you of pool maintenance tasks. These are generated on-device and are not sent through any server.
Under California law, the only category of "personal information" involved is geolocation data (approximate location), described above. All other information (pool data, tests, reminders, notes, photos) is stored solely on your device and is not collected by us.
California residents have the right to know/access, delete, and correct their personal information, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not done so. Because your pool data lives on your device, you can exercise access and deletion directly — by viewing/editing entries in the app or uninstalling it. If you are in the EU/UK, the same principles apply: we process approximate location only to provide the weather feature (on the basis of your consent via the location permission), we do not store it, and all other data remains on your device.
The app is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
